*gah* cars (again)

Michs pug went in for it’s first MOTT today - passed ok once the headlights where adjusted (handy for spotting low planes - less good for driving in the dark) and the fog light bulb was replaced. All good news.

Less good news is confirmation that the whirring noise is the top tensioner pully on the aux belt. I’d pretty much convinced myself of this before today but Sam (of Sams garage fame :-)) confirmed it. It’s not an overly expensive part (45 quid ish) and it isn’t a huge job to fit but given it doesn’t seem to have lasted as long as the belt I figure it ain’t quite right and will attempt to get it replace under the last 3 weeks of the 3 year warranty on the car. Knowing how shit the peugeot dealer in Canterbury is (why oh why are all main dealers so shite??) I’m not holding out much hope but it’s worth a try.

Another thing that Sam noticed that I’d missed was that although we have the original 175 tyres on the back the front has 185s on. When we bought the car I pointed out to the sales guy that the front tyres were near-as-dammit knackered so he agreed to stick a couple more on (along with a few other things). Although I checked he had done this it never crossed my mind to check they were the correct pissing size! Argghhh. Still, I guess I’ve got no come back on that one - it’s not illegal as long as the tyres on any axle match (bit screwed with the spare though…).

Gits

Oh well, I’ll give em a ring tomorrow and see what they say. Given past experiences with them I’m tempted to just give up and pay Sam to fix it. I know technically it’s their problem but if I take my time into account it’s hardly worth the effort :-(

gah!
