Finally decided today that the carpet that we have in the hall, stairs and landing is disgusting (who in their right mind has light cream carpet in the hallway? I did protest at the time but…)

Anyway, given that our ancient carpet cleaner thingy was a) shit and b) smelling of piss for some reason I figured it might be time to buy a new one. A bit of googling turned up the wonderfully named Rug Doctor. A bit more googling and it turns out that our local homebase and our local Morrisons both hire the things. Given Morrisons were half the price I decided to get one. I ring them up. “Yep, we have one in at the moment, no we can’t reserve it for you”. I head up to the shop.

“Sorry, someone has just hired it. There is another due back at 12.”
“Can you reserve that one for me?”
“No”
I get back to the place at 12:20 and it has gone. Finally, we find one in the shop at 4pm so grab it.

Well, it’s big and heavy and bright red. It also appears to come complete with half a beach in the waste tank (it also smells of piss but I’m beginning to think that is fairly standard for carpet cleaners). £13.99 for 24hrs use of a new toy didn’t seem too bad. Searching on the web it seems that they are getting on for a grand to buy so it’d better be good! 18 quids worth of chemicals of varying types wasn’t quite to good however. It’s currently parked in the hallway. Tomorrow, I doctor my rug…
