If you are thinking of sending me a Christmas card this year…
then read this (I’ve just sent this around work)
Subject: Christmas cards…
Or rather, lack of Christmas cards.
If you don’t know me then I can safely say you don’t need to read any more of this as it’s pretty unlikely you are considering sending me a Christmas card (but feel free to take part anyway).
This year, I’m not going to send anyone a Christmas card. Instead of lining the pockets of Clintons/Woolies/whoever or buying charity cards where a tiny percentage of the cash actually gets to the charity I’ve decided to cut out the middle man and just make a donation to charity. Given the connection with the University Seeds for Africa seems an obvious choice.
If anyone else wants to join in then I’m happy to co-ordinate a collection and then maybe we can make a single payment come the new year. A couple of people in computing service have already expressed an interest.
If you feel the need to have something to stand on your mantlepiece or bluetack to your wall then feel free to print this and fold it up. Sorry I’ve not perfected glossy colour emails yet (couldn’t quite bring myself to send a HTML email :-))
Happy Christmas!
