Sometimes, your children do something that really makes you proud

And today was one of those times. I’m sat in the dining room at my computer working and Jake is home from school in the front room playing with his lego.

suddenly he call me in. “Look daddy, I’ve sorted all my lego out”
I wander in to have a look. He has a pile of pirate related pieces, a pile of bricks and a pile of “not real lego”.

Hurrah, my son has successfully filtered all of the crap^H^H^H^H megablocks from his collection without me even having to prompt. Sometimes he makes me so proud :) He’s certainly learning.

Plenty of time to arrange a sacrificial bonfire for nov 5th as well. I’m sure megablocks burn…

I just wonder how much he’ll cringe when he reads back the archives of your blog from when he was a whelp

    Jake is a star!

You need to get him an organiser box now so he can start sorting out the individual bits.

Anyway what I really want to know is:

WHAT SORT OF FATHER ARE YOU BY ALLOWING YOUR SON TO HAVE MEGABLOCKS?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

they were a present from someone else - I did protest at the time but he was overcome by the shiny packaging.

He has now seen the light :)

Would you let your son have a stanley knife? They come in shiny packaging as well and could be regarded as equally as dangerous.

now there’s an idea. If I can train him to fit carpets I can send him out to earn some cash…

I stumbled on this page when I was looking to find out if Megablocks were manufactured by Lego. It looks to me that the must be some copyright issues as they are so similar. I was recently at Legoland Windsor and Megablocks were for sale in the Lego shop!!

Megablocks for sale at legoland? Are you *sure*. That’s incredibly unlikely unless as a result of the recent sale of the parks.

I seem to recall that the protection of the basic brick design ran out a while ago - hence the multitude of copy blocks now available. Most of the more exotic bricks and components are still protected however.
