2nd week at school, 2nd school uniform…
Jakes second full week at school (well, full week of mornings anyway) and he is already on his second set of school uniforms. He had a couple of everything which was great until Rebecca discovered the buttons on the front of the washing machine. One quick wash at 95 degrees and his trousers are some sort of deformed 3/4 length crop and his sweatshirts have turned into a sort of tube with a neck about the same size as his waist. Of course, we discovered this late on Sunday afternoon.
A quick dash to one of the Ashford tescos (thanks god one of them is open till 6pm) and the situation is rescued. A pair of grey trousers (for a 4 year old with a waist about the size of mine I reckon) and a blue jumper that is pretty much an exact match for the official school colours. Result! Saved by Tesco again (I wonder if I could get them to sponsor this site?).
This morning after depositing him in his class togged out in his makeshift uniform I pop into the school to buy a couple more sweatshirts. 16 quid lighter we nip to Sainsburys and pick up that last two pairs of trousers that fit him - reduced to half price to clear so that wasn’t so bad. I think he is back on track for tomorrow.
I’ve now read the manual and discovered that there are various locks that we can place on the washing machine to stop it happening again (although this did result in it refusing to give me the clean washing earlier!) and the only thing left to sort is Becca. She was told off but disappeared to the kitchen in tears only to start fiddling with the dishwasher. Grrrrrrrrrrr
Aside from all this, Jake appears to be loving school and me working from home appears to be working ok so far. I’m getting plenty of reading and research done and actually managing to sort out a load of those poxy little jobs that always get ignored for something more important in the office. How well it will work longer term is yet to be seen
Anyone want a small child? Comes free with a couple of sets of school uniform suitable for a 1ft6 4 year old.
