Management are not supporting my promotion bid this year so I fail at the first hurdle. Not too bothered – there are plenty of others earning far less than me who deserve it much more than I do.
What does nark be a bit is the reason given. Apparantly I need to focus more on hitting deadlines and not getting as involved in the technical work.
Errrr…..given that I am the *only* person in the development group that does anything with Unix its difficult to see who I can delegate to. Also, the only deadlines I’ve missed in the last year were due to Suns consultants delivering late – something that the project manager is responsible surely? Who was the project manager? Guess. Hint, he got his promotion a few months back…
Oh well. If the only way I’m going to get more money where I am is by going into management (like we need some more managers) then maybe it is time to move on and get a real job.
Bummer
Maybe you should just stop doing the Unix work that the manager thinks you should delegate.
When it all starts going wrong maybe he’ll rethink his comments
Until then *gives cookies*
me eats cookies
Ta. It’s not the fact that my application wasn’t supported – I expected that and only put my name down as I didn’t have to do anything and I figured it was worth a punt. I am intreagued who I should be delegating to though…
Send them my way…….I can assure you complete failure, which will only improve your chances
…or you could delegate on someone in your office…..you know, the “talkative” one
Buggers me to think that after carrying the email project almost single-handedly, “management” still thinks that you did not do enough…..instead of this &^$%£*$ they should have given you the promotion, a bonus pay AND shown their appreciation (not kidding)
any spare cookie for meh?
No
