telephone version of 419?

I’ve just had a very odd phonecall.

Some woman who claimed to be from Amsterdam (some company that I could make the name out despite asking her 3 times) rings on an amazingly bad phoneline saying that her colleague contacted me a year ago about an investment scheme and did I remember?

No. I don’t. No they didn’t.

Anyway, she continues. Apparantly, next week her company will have a wonderfull investment opportunity that is only being offered to selected people and I have been highly recommended (by who she couldn’t tell me) based on my sound investment choices in the past (errrrrrr….I bought 200 quids worth of egg shares that are now worth something like 47p).

For only a small initial investment on my part I can make huge, gauranteed returns in less than 5 years. She will ring me back next week with the details.

When quizzed whether this was a stockmarket investment or a Government bond she assured me it was very safe “Amsterdam Government bonds” but that she could tell me no more till next week.

I hung up when she started quizzing me on what investments I had and why I wasn’t sounding enthused at he offers. Lets see if she rings back next week :-)
