Group to act over Springer opera
“Christian Voice national director Stephen Green said: “If Jerry Springer - The Opera isn’t blasphemous then nothing in Britain is sacred. He said the show was “much worse” than he expected when he saw it”
Hang on. It was much worse that he expected when he saw it? Why the hell did he watch it? If he was so convinced that he wouldn’t like it then why watch it? Ah, “The damage that must have done to impressionable young people is incalculable.” Thats ok then. He was watching to help prevent our young people becoming corrupted….
I think the only people who have real reason to take any legal action are the poor sods at the beeb who have had their home phone numbers published on a website by Christian Voice. Great move folks - I hope the beeb lawyers come down on you with all the dpa and hr laws that they can. The Christian Choice website is a good read in places though. Don’t forget “The BBC have no respect for God, and they hold the views of ordinary people in contempt”. Errrrrr hello? I think I’m a fairly ordinary person and I reckon the beeb are not too bad in general (bit less of the make over shows though please).
I know many people who would describe themselves as Christians. Several of them watched the opera (couldn’t be arsed myself) and have actually commented that they enjoyed it a lot more than they expected to. I suppose they are all corrupted now. Oh well.
Still, nice to see it pulled an audience of 1.7 million. Thats probably about 1.5 million rabid wannabe Christians desperate for something to complain about and 200000 normal people…

It’s quite hard to discuss a subject like that without having seen it. If the people who would be defending the objections to it haven’t watched it, the people attacking them would say “But you haven’t seen it, so how would you know?”.
Yes, it sounds a little counter-productive but…

true true.
He just pissed me off somewhat the way he was ranting as if he was speaking for *all* christians on the planet.
foo: did you watch it out of interest? And if so, what were your views?

No. We don’t have a TV license. What I heard about it on the radio made me decide I didn’t want to see it anyway
