Finally, some time off work. Next week is hardly a week of lazing about though - got to finish rewiring the bedroom and attempt to plaster the wall that fell apart while I was chasing the light conduit into the wall….oh, and decorate and fit a carpet instead of the manky dog hair infested thing that we have (its the one that was left in the house when we moved in 6 years back).

I got really annoyed at some christian idiot on the radio this morning. He was ranting about Jerry Springer the opera which is on BBC2 tonight. He claims that as he is a Christian and he pays his TV licence they shouldn’t be allowed to show this sort of program.

Well, I pay my TV licence and object to twats like him being on BBC radio. If you don’t like it don’t watch it. I don’t like Songs of Praise but I don’t object to *my* TV license money going towards it. As well as his arguement that it shouldn’t be shown as it has Jesus claiming that he “feels slightly gay” and that Jesus is shown with breasts (hey, maybe Jesus was a lesbian?) his other argument is that there is too much swearing in it. He claims overs 8000. Most of these are sung by the whole cast so the actual number is much much lower (less than 300 according to the beeb).

I won’t watch it myself. Not because of the swearing or the alledged blasphemy (although I’m tempted to watch gay Jesus - SouthPark has a lot to answer for ;-)) but for two reasons. Firstly, I can’t stand musicals/opera in the slightest. Secondly, I can’t stand Jerry Springer or and of the American culture that comes with it. I do however fully support the BBC spending *my* money on total crap like this - I might not like it but I hate censorship of this sort even more.

45000 complaints to the BBC already? Loads of radio and TV coverage? I bet the BBC are laughing - they couldn’t have got this much advertising if they had tried…
